Ingredient Comments Missing Links For Dogs

Our products are designer or formulated food products that are super food sources containing nutrients and phytochemicals that are biologically active and synergistic in health-protective ways, that are formulated using proprietary methods, and that are packaged to deliver the product as nearly as possible to the way mother nature intended.

Flax Seed:
Flax is a wonder! It is the richest vegetable source of Omega 3 essential fatty acid (alpha lenolenic acid). It is the richest known source of lignans, a class of phytochemicals that have anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-carcinogenic properties. It is an exceptional source of dietary fiber, both soluble and insoluble. Flax is also high in boron, a trace mineral that helps the body hold on to calcium. It's no wonder flax seed was chosen as one of the first five foodstuffs for study by the National Cancer Institute in their 20 million dollar project to determine health benefits of natural foods! This remarkable grain contains 27 known phytochemicals which include the lignans, flavonoids, cournarins, and phenolic acids. From the Omega 3 essential fatty acid, the body produces series 3 prostaglandins. These act at the cellular level in a host of disease-fighting ways that include anti-clotting actions in the blood stream, anti-inflammatory responses that prevent or alleviate such auto-immune diseases as arthritis, psoriasis, and asthma. They are also involved in mechanisms of transport and metabolism of both cholesterol and triglycerides that results in a strong lowering effect on both of these cardiovascular factors. Series 3 prostaglandins increase our vitality, energy, and stamina due to their involvement in the body's process of oxidation which, on the cellular level, is the way molecules are broken down to produce energy.

Sunflower seed:
Besides being a nutritious and fiber-rich seed, sunflower is included to balance the essential fatty acid ratio to a more optimum level.

Blackstrap Molasses:
A rich source of minerals, particularly iron and calcium, and of vitamins and other major and trace minerals. A proven blood builder!

Rice Bran:
Rice bran is really the "brown" of rice; the parts that usually are processed out of the rice and that contain vitamins, minerals, and good fiber. This is a rich carbohydrate that also delivers a powerful package of naturally occurring antioxidants.

Nutritional Yeasts:
Rich sources of the B vitamins and of minerals, including chromium and selenium, as well as a good and digestible source of protein. These yeasts help strengthen the immune system which, in turn, corrects yeast imbalances.

Alfalfa:
A wonderful source of many phytochernicals. Nutrient rich and very assimilable by the body. A good source of beta carotene, chlorophyll, octacosanol, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids as well as being up to 50 percent protein.

Liver:
The most nutritious of all meats. Freeze-dried and human quality edible, each shipment received is certified as to its purity and quality. Supplies an extremely pure source of vitamins and of protein. One of the best sources of the "B" vitamins. Used in our formulations as a minor but important "super" food.

Bone Meal:
High in major and especially, trace minerals and calcium for overall health and protection against bone degeneration. A good source of vitamin D.

Fish Meal:
Primarily used in animal formulations for palatability. Because it is a human edible fish meal, it is one of our more expensive ingredients.

Ovster:
Primarily included in some formulas because it improves palatability. It is also a good source of zinc.

Carrot:
This one is a well known 'star" for health! Carrot is packed with beta carotene (provitamin A), its most famous phytochemical, for which substantial evidence exists to suggest strong cancer and heart disease preventative effects. It is rich in vitamins, enzymes, and is a good source of fiber. Its known phytochemical storehouse contains 42 of these health-benefiting molecules, including the carotenoids, coumarins, flavonoids, terpenes, phenolic acids, phthalides, and polyacetylenes.

Garlic:
Nature's antibiotic and enhancer of the immune system, a true "super star" super food. Garlic was one of NCI's "first five", being studied for its multiple health benefits that include breakdown of blood clots, reduction of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) while increasing high-density lipoproteins (HDL), alleviating asthma, reducing high blood pressure, and acting as an immune system stimulant. Garlic contains 35 known phytochemicals including the allylic sulfides, terpenes, and phenolic acids.

Yucca:
Yucca is rich in the phytochemical family termed "phytosterols". These compounds are helpful in improving digestion and are effective in controlling arthritis.

Lecithin:
A phoshpolipid that supplies choline, necessary to make the neurotransmitter acetylcholine(brain & nerve function). It is also known as an "edible detergent", which breaks up fats into small droplets, of primary importance in keeping cholesterol soluble. Lecithin is in every cell membrane and is involved in electrical phenomena and membrane fluidity on the cellular level.

Barley Green (grass):
This is a "green" food, a class of exceptionally nutritious foods that have high concentrations of vitamins, minerals, protein, enzymes, chlorophyll, and mucopolysaccharides. Barley green contributes in many ways to the body's healing ability, including benefits against allergic reactions, inflamation, high blood pressure, and detoxification, just to name a few!

Spirulina:
A blue-green algae that is extremely nutrient rich. It is super rich in vitamins, minerals, carotene and chlorophyll.

Nettle:
Nettle is a "green" food that is better than spinach! It's a great source of organic iron, but does not contain oxalic acid which ties up calcium.
